IMSA prototype veteran Dan Goldburg looking forward to new challenge with JDC MotorSports in 2023.

New team, New car, New series for Goldburg after joining JDC MotorSports in 2023.

Savage, MN (January 14, 2023) Daniel Goldburg, who already competed several seasons in the LMP3 prototype category in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship as well as the Prototype Challenge Championship, has joined JDC MotorSports for the 2023 season in the new sprint format VP Racing SportsCar Challenge LMP3 class category.

The Minnesota-based team will field one Duqueine D08 LMP3 for Dan in all rounds of the six-event, 12-race schedule for the inaugural season of the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge – featuring LMP3 prototypes and GT4 machinery running together for the first time under the new format, with backing from CSCI as the program’s main commercial partner and raising awareness for the Florida Green Building Coalition.

Each VP Racing SportsCar Challenge event will feature two, 45-minute races per weekend with a single driver in each car. Drivers must be rated either Silver or Bronze on the FIA Driver Categorization list.

“Daniel joining JDC for the inaugural season of the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge is going to be a great program for us.” said John Church, managing partner of JDC MotorSports. “Daniel knows the tracks and LMP3 cars really well and has a lot of experience running at IMSA events. We know the car very well and certainly have the experience to execute well in the races, so we expect to contend for race wins and the championship” Church continued.

44-year-old Goldburg, who resides in Delray Beach, FL, competed previously in the IMSA WeatherTech LMP3 prototype class as well as in the LMP3 Prototype Challenge Championship.

“I am really excited to join JDC MotorSports for the 2023 season and kick off this new VP Racing SportsCar Challenge. In a way it’s kind of going back to my roots as the 45-minute sprint format is more like my club racing days. It’s just me driving, no pit stops, and it’s just flat out for the 45 min… go go go! We’ve got the GT4 cars in the GSX class to work around, but in the past few years I’ve had some of my best passes in Weathertech using GT traffic to aid me (check out my youtube), so I look forward to putting that experience to use this year.” said Daniel.

“This will also be the first time for me running the Duqueine D08. We tested the car in December at Daytona and it went really well – I ran the fastest laps I’ve ever run. It was clear to me that JDC really knows this Duqueine, and it does not hurt that the team will also be running a LMP3 car in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship so at weekends both series are running, hopefully we will have some synergies between the two entries.” Daniel continued on joining JDC MotorSports for the 2023 season.

For now the focus will be on the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, but Goldurg has not ruled out some selected starts in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship with JDC-Miller MotorSports later in the season.
