JDC-Miller MotorSports Mustang Sampling Racing 2nd at Road America

SAVAGE, Minn. (August 2, 2026). The JDC-Miller MotorSports Mustang Sampling Racing No. 5 Porsche 963 finished 2nd at the Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix in front of a huge crowd on the 4.048 miles of Road America. Road America is the team’s home track, so it was especially rewarding to bring home the strong result in front of all the JDC-Miller MotorSports and Mustang Sampling Racing fans. The race this year changed to the endurance format and ran for 6 hours. The change proved to be very popular with both the competitors and the fans. It was an exciting race for all 6 hours.

Kaylen Frederick started the Mustang Sampling Porsche from 11th position with the goal of running clean and staying near the leaders without risking the car. The race was full of yellows and many penalties, which kept the crew on the pit box constantly evolving the Mustang Sampling Porsche’s strategy. It was a day of good fortune for the Mustang Sampling Porsche. The most noteworthy incident was late in the race when Laurin Heinrich had some minor contact when two cars in front of him got together, which put a hole in the nose. The hole allowed air pressure to build up in the cockpit and eventually blew the right-side door open. The car was black-flagged for the open door just as the final pit-stop window opened, and the crew was able to change the nose and close the door during a normal pit-stop, losing seconds instead of a lap if they had made a separate stop for the door.

The race featured 9 full-course yellows, with the final one coming with 10 minutes remaining and the Mustang Sampling Porsche running 5th. Two competitors ahead of the Mustang Sampling Porsche took each other out in turn 1 and could not continue. The car running 4th received an avoidable contact drive-through penalty, and the Mustang Sampling Porsche moved up to 2nd while circling behind the safety car. Safety teams could not complete the cleanup before the clock ticked over the 6-hour mark, and the race was checkered. It was an exciting finish for the JDC-Miller MotorSports team and their fans, even though the final passes for position were under yellow.

The JDC-Miller MotorSports No. 79 Oreca 07 finished an impressive 8th in the LMP2 class and 15th overall. Gerry Kraut, Josh Burdon, and Sennan Fielding, did the driving. 54 cars started the race.

Laurin Heinrich further improved his 2nd position in his pursuit of the IMSA WeatherTech Championship GTP driver’s championship. Two races remain.

“What a great day. Early in the race we had the pace we wanted and were following an energy save strategy, which was working well for us. Then we picked up a couple of penalties. We went down a lap a couple of times, but with all the yellows, we worked through those pretty easily and were never very far from the leaders. Things went well for us and later in the race we were in good position to push to the finish. Our focus was on getting P4 when everything happened in front of us and we moved up to 2nd. While we had some luck, we had the pace and executed well throughout the race. That allowed us to be in position to take advantage of the breaks when they presented themselves. P2 is especially gratifying because we did what we needed to do to earn the position.

This is exactly why we love the 6 hour format. You can get a bad break and have time to work your way out of it. Our podium today is a perfect example of how if you keep working, you can get a great result. Great points day for Laurin and the team. This is our third podium in four races, so I couldn’t be prouder of the team.”

“It was quite a turnaround in the race. It initially looked like it was going to be a difficult day. I’ve learned in racing, however, that sometimes the race has to come to you. There are times you have to just do your best and let things happen. Today was one of those days. Less exciting in the cockpit making up positions, but working to be there to take advantage of opportunities as they come around.

I think the team did a great job to bounce back from the penalties we had and also the mechanical black flag for the open door. I had some contact which put a hole in the nose. So I got a lot of air coming in the cockpit, and about 10 minutes later, there was so much pressure in the cockpit that the passenger door popped open. It felt like a submarine exploding!. Fortunately, this happened just as the pit window opened, so the crew fixed it without losing much time. Then I had some good restarts and kept a cool head to bring home a good position, which is good for the championship.”

Podium Finish for JDC-Miller MotorSports at the Sahlen’s Six Hour of The Glen

SAVAGE, Minn. (June 28, 2026). The JDC-Miller MotorSports No. 5 Mustang Sampling Racing Porsche 963 GTP finished on the third step of the podium at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen at the iconic Watkins Glen International Speedway. This is the team’s second podium in the past three races, which started with their win at Laguna Seca. It marks the fourth podium of the season for Laurin Heinrich, the first podium for Kaylen Frederick in only his third race in IMSA, and the 2nd podium of the season for Tijmen van der Helm.

The weekend started strong for the JDC-Miller MotorSports team, with times at or near the top of the timesheets in both practice sessions. They qualified in the 5th position after a long delay and changing track conditions. The No. 5 Porsche 963 stayed near the front of the field for nearly three hours until a tire went down after light contact, forcing an unscheduled pit stop and dropping them a lap down. Within 20 laps, a caution came out, and they were able to get back on the lead lap. Heinrich got in the car and charged through the field, securing a podium position in 3rd.

The Mustang Sampling Racing No. 5 Porsche 963 GTP completed 182 laps of the 3.4-mile Watkins Glen International road course, averaging 129.157 MPH, over the 6 hours of intense competition. The No. 5 drivers completed 360 overtakes in the mixed-class competition. The crew did 8 flawless pit stops.

Laurin Heinrich retains his second position in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship GTP driver’s championship.

“Yesterday was my first time qualifying, which meant it was my very first time starting in GTP. It was a new experience for me. We qualified 5th, and I knew it was going to be a long race, so I just tried to get settled and completed my stint in 3rd. Then we hit some trouble. We had to take emergency service to refit a tire. It looked like it was going to be difficult, but what I really liked was that the team didn’t give up. We recovered the lap when a caution came at the right time. But the team was always aware of what was happening, and we knew that this caution would give us the lap back, so it was great.

From there, we never gave up; we kept our heads cool. We knew we had a good car underneath us, which, over the long run, takes good care of the tires. It was key today to make some good moves at the end of the race.

I have to say a big thank you to Porsche and to JDC-Miller and my teammates because it was a really good day, and we made a good turnaround.”

JDC-Miller MotorSports Announces Laurin Heinrich for Watkins Glen

SAVAGE, Minn. (June 11, 2026). JDC-Miller MotorSports is pleased to announce that Laurin Heinrich will drive the No. 5 Porsche 963 at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen alongside Tijmen van der Helm and Kaylen Frederick. As previously announced, he will continue to drive the No. 5 at Road America and Indianapolis, then rejoin the Porsche Penske No. 7 team for the season finale at Petit Le Mans.

After winning at Daytona, Sebring, and Laguna Seca, Heinrich is currently 2nd in the Driver’s Championship of the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Porsche is 2nd in the manufacturer’s championship, just 25 points out of the top position. Heinrich is the reigning IMSA GTD-Pro class champion. 

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will be held on June 28th on the 3.4-mile, 11-turn road course at Watkins Glen International Raceway. TV coverage will be on Peacock, starting at 12:00 PM EDT.

JDC-Miller MotorSports Returns Historic Livery to the 74th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring

SAVAGE, Minn. (March 12, 2026). JDC-Miller MotorSports is pleased to announce that its Porsche 963 will showcase a new version of its 2021 12 Hours of Sebring winning livery at the 74th running of the iconic race and for the remainder of the season. The Porsche will run the number 5 as did the DPi class Cadillac in 2021. 

Since the car is now a GTP class Porsche 963 hybrid, world-renowned graphic designer Andy Blackmore was engaged to create a new look that pays tribute to the team’s 2021 car but with a fresh style.

The youthful, but experienced, driver line-up will remain the same as Daytona, Tijmen van der Helm, Nico Pino, and Kaylen Frederick.

The 2021 12 Hours of Sebring marks a special time for the race and the IMSA WeatherTech Championship series. The series had adapted to COVID-19 restrictions and was racing again, on its traditional date, in front of its loyal fans. Five years later, we celebrate everyone who worked hard to bring us back to racing and the fans who came to enjoy this incredible event.

It will be a very busy 12 Hours of Sebring for the JDC-Miller MotorSports team as they will also be running the number 79 Oreca 07 Gibson in the LMP2 class.  The team’s regular driver Gerry Kraut, will be joined by Australian Josh Burdon, and British driver Sennan Fielding.

JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche 963 Finish 7th in the 2026 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona

SAVAGE, Minn. (January 26, 2026). The JDC-Miller Motorsports No.85 Porsche 963 finished the 64th Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in the seventh position of the 60-car field. The 85 was very competitive throughout both weekends of the event, usually very close to the top of the time charts. The trio of youthful drivers led the race on three occasions for a total of 46 laps. They consistently ran lap times right with the leaders for the entire race. Damage from debris to the floor of the car limited their ability to execute the planned late race charge and they finished in seventh on the lead lap. After 24 hours of racing, in which they completed 705 laps or 2507 miles,  the JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche was just 70 seconds behind the winners. 

This year’s running of “The Rolex” will long be remembered for two things, a massive fan turnout, and the six and a half hour safety car period due to heavy fog, a Rolex 24 record. The yellow came out at 12:45AM and the field went green again at 7:18AM. The 85 completed 119 laps or 421 miles under the extended caution period. The Daytona International Speedway reported a record crowd, as well.

“For us, it was a pretty straightforward race. We maintained a good pace throughout most of the race and didn’t encounter any incidents or mistakes. “We went with three drivers this year. Things were a bit more challenging mentally and physically, but I think I prefer it. It was easier to get on the same page on strategy and setup, which led to us having a really good setup to start the race.

We were very competitive for most of the 24 hours, but we got a bit unlucky in the race when we hit something with the floor of the car, which cost us some pace at the end. I am quite happy with that finish since we were in the hunt for a top position throughout.

I’m now looking forward to Sebring. It’s a completely different track, but we have a strong lineup of both drivers and team members in the pits.”

“Lots of exciting firsts for me: my first IMSA race, first Daytona, first time racing with co-drivers, and competing with other classes of cars. Overall, it was a remarkable experience, and for most of the race, we had a very strong car. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the pace at the end to move up a few more spots. The JDC-Miller MotorSports team did a fantastic job; I don’t think they could have prepared much better. The team, along with Tijmen and Nico, got me comfortable in the 963 quite quickly. A lot to learn. They and Richard Westbrook were incredibly helpful, and it showed on the track.”

“This was a Rolex 24 that I really enjoyed. The entire team really came together nicely and that led to good pace right from the first session. All three drivers jelled right away and collaborated to make the car very good throughout the event. The technical guys did great work both in the off-season and at the track and it really showed in how we made changes to the car and were strong both at the Roar and in the race. We were strong at the November test and that has carried right through until now.

JDC-Miller MotorSports Announces Dynamic Young Lineup for the 2026 Rolex 24 at Daytona

SAVAGE, MN (January 8, 2026) – JDC-Miller MotorSports is proud to announce its driver lineup for the 64th running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The team’s No. 85 Porsche 963 will be piloted by a high-octane trio of rising, young, but experienced stars: Tijmen van der Helm, Nico Pino, and Kaylen Frederick.

Tijmen van der Helm (Netherlands) returns to the team for his fourth straight season in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship GTP class. As a key part of the JDC-Miller program, van der Helm brings valuable experience with the Porsche 963 platform. The 21-year-old has 23 starts in the JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche 963. This is his fourth Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona with the team, ith best finishes of 6th in both 2024 and 2025.

“I am excited to continue my journey with JDC-Miller MotorSports,” said van der Helm. We’ve made massive strides in understanding this car over the past three years, and starting the 2026 season with such a talented team around us gives us a real chance at the podium.”

Joining van der Helm is Nico Pino, from Santiago, Chile, who joins JDC-Miller MotorSports after an impressive tenure in both the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Now 20 years old, Pino moved from carts to open-wheel cars at age 13. In 2021, he became the youngest driver ever to compete in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) at just 16. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023, he earned a notable third-place finish in the highly competitive LMP2 class. In 2025, he drove a Porsche 963 eleven times in both IMSA and WEC. Pino also made headlines driving the JDC-Miller MotorSports 963 during the IMSA November 2025 tests at Daytona, setting the fastest time overall in the fourth session and finishing second overall for the test. This will be his 5th Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Completing the roster is American standout, 23-year-old Kaylen Frederick. Frederick has extensive experience in Formula 3. He dominated the 2020 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship and became the first American to win that prestigious title. Frederick will be competing in the Michelin Endurance Cup races with JDC-Miller MotorSports and is looking to expand on that program as the season progresses.

“It is a bit humbling to begin my sports car career driving for a top team like JDC-Miller MotorSports, in a car like the Porsche 963, and at one of the biggest races of the year, the Rolex 24 at Daytona. I started my national karting career at the kart track in the Daytona infield, so it seems fitting that I am now starting my endurance racing career at the same prestigious venue.
